Fabric Frustration

Why is it so hard to find good quality wool jersey? i've been searching high and low and i still only have a tiny selection.

Great Image

I love this image from an editorial, "Bunny Aint No Kind of Rider", from Russh Magazine's current issue. The splashes of yellow paint add interest to the photograph and compliments the model.

menswear as inspiration

since my collection is heavily inspired by the screen gangster, it is shaping up to be quite masculine and so many menswear designers are quite inspiring. Take for instance kris van assche's Autumn/Winter 2010/2011 collection.

Simplicity of the Screen Gangster

Ok so i researching my theme for my design work, which is inspired by the screen gangster I have become slightly obsessed with gangster movies like The Godfather. I love this movie, the costuming really plays on the dual personalities of the gangster through such a simplistic uniform.

I just saw this image and thought wow. Its just so simplistic but yet interesting as it plays with light and shade so well.

I just thought this lighting design was really interesting. It takes on the minimalist approach and i love how the photography plays with light and shade.

Coraline

Coraline was a great movie. I really liked the dark twisted, mysterious world mixed in with reality. The idea of the rag doll as a medium to control and lure people into this world was really interesting. It depicts the idea of things having double meanings - there is a hidden truth behind the surface.

I just came across this photograph. This is an exhibition by Hiroshi Sugimoto, titled 7 days/7nights. The images explores the concept of time in such a beautiful, simplistic form.

Collaboration

Photographer Michelangelo Di Battista and artist Tina Berning collaborate with the Face/project and present these amazing photographs. The masking of the model's faces with various materials explores the idea of restriction and surface and hidden meaning. Its quite inspiring as they are examples of how details can be used to convey such meaning.
